Tasting Notes: Raisin, Caramel, Nougat
Kopakama Cooperative coffee is comprised of the Bourbon variety grown between 1,480 - 1,900 and is fully washed at one of two central washing stations then slowly dried on shaded raised beds. You can expect a pleasant Caramel/Raisin sweetness throughout your cup rounded out with a vibrant acidity.
The Kopakama Cooperative is located off the Eastern shore of Lake Kivu in Western Rwanda. Founded in 1998, Kopakama has 687 smallholder farmers. Coffee has gradually brought the community of Kivu together again following the devastating genocide. This past year, Kopakama welcomed another 156 farmers to their cooperative and were able to make a second payment to their farmer members at the end of the season for their coffee.
